Yes — 78% Celluloid Score. Otomo’s 138-minute 2021 closer is a revenge picture set in a Tokyo that has moved on: Mackenyu’s Enishi Yukishiro arrives as coiled grief, and Kenshin’s rebuilt life is the thing in the blast radius.

Watch The Beginning adjacent — they share a wound. The 2012–2014 trilogy is still the main road; this is the later, harder chapter.

What does Mackenyu change?

The temperature. Enishi is not another warlord with a speech. He is a brother-by-marriage who will not forgive, and the urban fights are personal enough to stay readable at franchise scale. Satoh plays dread as restraint: Kenshin’s fear is not death but the destruction of the dojo family.

Kaoru is not ornamental here. The film understands that the vow is tested at home, not only in an alley. That is why the 78% sits just under The Beginning’s 81% — slightly more bruising, slightly less ravishing, still first-rank live-action anime craft.
