What is The Christophers about?
The estranged children of Julian Sklar, a once-celebrated painter, hire struggling artist Lori Butler to finish his abandoned canvases so they can be "discovered" and sold after his death. Steven Soderbergh lets Michaela Coel and Ian McKellen spar in rooms that feel both claustrophobic and unexpectedly tender.

The Christophers (2026) Review: Two Artists, One Legacy
The Christophers is Steven Soderbergh's dry chamber comedy-drama, pairing Ian McKellen's ageing painter with Michaela Coel's struggling artist to sharp effect.
Yes, with reservations. Coel and McKellen are superb together and Soderbergh keeps it brisk, but its cool, unsentimental tone will leave some viewers wanting warmth.
