What is Power Ballad about?

Rick (Paul Rudd), a wedding singer past his prime, bonds with fading boy-band star Danny (Nick Jonas) over an after-hours jam, then fights for the credit when Danny turns one of Rick's songs into a comeback hit, in John Carney's warm, music-first comedy-drama.

Power Ballad (2026) Review: Paul Rudd Fights for His Song

Power Ballad is John Carney's warm Dublin music comedy-drama in which Paul Rudd and Nick Jonas are bound together by a hit song and the question of who wrote it.

Yes. It is a likeable, well-played music drama with real songs at its heart, best for fans of Carney's earlier films who prefer warmth to a sharp satirical edge.
