What is Jana Nayagan about?
In Madurai prison, Vetri wields more power than the guards who claim to hold him — until a warden’s sacrifice and a child’s fear pull him into a war against a transnational criminal who buys governments. Remade from the Telugu hit Bhagavanth Kesari, H. Vinoth’s mass action drama became Thalapathy Vijay’s cinematic farewell after months of certification delays, an April 2026 leak, and his swearing-in as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister.

Jana Nayagan (2026) Review: A Farewell Built for Fans
Jana Nayagan is Vijay's farewell to cinema, a three-hour Tamil mass action drama that electrifies as a star event but sags under its political messaging.
It depends. Vijay fans and anyone curious about this cultural moment should see it; viewers wanting a tight action drama will find it long and uneven.
