Our editorial review is published. Is God Is (2026) Review: Twin Sisters on a Holy Errand. The composite score is a separate measure. It requires an editorial rating and at least one independent rating input.

What is Is God Is about?

Twin sisters Racine and Anaia — scarred as children by a fire their father set — receive a letter from their dying mother ordering them to kill the man who disfigured them. Aleshea Harris adapts her own award-winning play into a Southern Gothic revenge road trip where Kara Young and Mallori Johnson chase Sterling K. Brown's father figure across a charged American landscape, colliding with Janelle Monáe and Vivica A. Fox as scripture, rage, and dark comedy rewrite the rules of who gets to deliver justice.

Is God Is (2026) Review: Twin Sisters on a Holy Errand

Is God Is is Aleshea Harris's screen version of her own play: a Southern Gothic revenge road trip that is ferocious, mythic and startlingly funny.

Yes. It is one of 2026's boldest American films, best for viewers who like stylised, theatrical storytelling and can take dark comedy about real cruelty.
