Twenty-nine films in, the franchise still runs like a tuned engine — the mystery leans on late-arriving info-dumps, but the highway set pieces rank among the most exhilarating action the series has ever staged.

What is Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway about?
The 29th Detective Conan feature sends Conan and the Mouri household to Kanagawa for a motorcycle festival, where a string of lethal expressway crashes looks less like bad luck and more like choreography. As Conan digs in, the trail winds toward traffic-division ace Chihaya Hagiwara and a conspiracy engineered around the highways themselves — and the shrunken detective must outthink a calculating mastermind at highway speed. Takahiro Hasui's entry set a franchise opening record on its way past 13 billion yen, Japan's biggest domestic hit of early 2026.

Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway Review: The Franchise Machine Purrs at Full Throttle
★★★½☆
The 29th Detective Conan film swaps bombast for an honest-to-goodness mystery, wraps it in superbly animated motorcycle mayhem, and rode both to a record-breaking tenth-billion-yen run in Japan — proof this 29-film engine still has gears left.
One of the stronger modern Conan films — a treat for franchise faithful and a surprisingly workable entry point for the mystery-inclined. Casual viewers should expect formula, executed well.
